RULES:
(updated 5/05/10)
All fish entered in the tournament must be caught on a hook, preferably one owned by the participating team. Trotlines, reel and rod, limb lines, and jugs are permitted.
All fish must be caught in the Dannelly Reservoir and its tributaries accessible by boat from the main channel of the Alabama River. Only catfish will be permitted entry. No turtles, eels, drum, carp, gar, bass, bream, crappie, or other trash fish will be allowed on the premises.
No fish entered in the tournament may be "boated" before 3PM on Friday, May 28, 2010. In other words, one can not catch a fish on Sunday, put it in a barrel or other pen, and produce it for weighing on Friday or Saturday. (If you do, we'll know it because the tails will usually be eaten off!)
No fish will be entered in the tournament that were obtained by any means other than a hook, including shocking devices, nets, baskets, or explosives.
Acquiring fish from others will not be permitted.
A $100 entry fee per team must be paid to Ken Crosswhite by May 20, 2010.
There will be absolutely no drinking of alcoholic beverages during the event, unless they are consumed in a boat or onshore. One team member must remain sober to navigate the boat.
Cheating is discouraged but expected. Allegations of cheating can be brought by any team against any other team and will be heard by the official judge. Penalties will be assessed at the judge’s discretion by a reduction in pounds of fish.
Two weigh-ins will be conducted: 9PM on Friday and 5PM on Saturday. Fish must be under the shed at the Johnson’s Lakehouse before 5:00 PM, CST, on Saturday, May 29, 2010, or they will not be permitted entry in the tournament.
All fish brought to the scales must have skin and whiskers intact. No frozen fish will be permitted. Teams must be willing to eat all entered fish.
All teams are required to have an official name and an official flag. Any team guilty of not displaying their flag will lose 50 pounds of their final score.
Any team that does not produce 30 pounds of fish will be fined $100.
Anyone guilty of flagrant cheating can expect their invitation to get lost in the mail for the next tournament.
Winners will keep the trophies and bragging rights and agree to return in one year to put both of them on the line (no pun intended) once again in the summer of 2011!
(Some of the above rules are written in jest. Tournament organizers and all participants willingly adhere to all game laws and sober boating laws.)
